About Us

About Us: The ESME e.V. Orchestra
The TT Orchestra was formed in the summer of 2008 by members of the ex-pat community in Munich. It was originally named after the entry in Toytown (a.k.a. TT) that brought the first 4 musicians together. They debuted in July 2009 with 22 instrumentalists. Since then, the orchestra has more than doubled in size, and performs two concerts each year at venues such as the Carl-Orff-Saal at the Gasteig and the Münchner Künstlerhaus. Members come from a wide array of places and professional backgrounds. Many come from English-speaking countries, but over 20 countries are represented in all. We are here to encourage music-making and to encourage YOU to join us. We arrange almost all of our music to accommodate the instruments involved, so we have a place for you.

About Us: The ESME e.V. Singers

Various singers were invited to sing at the Toytown Christmas party in December 2008. Their performance was so well-received that the singers decided to continue, and thus, the TT Singers were born.

Since then, the choir has performed two combined concerts each year with the ESME Orchestra and The Resident Alien Big Band. They also give smaller performances throughout the year, including a now regular Spring Concert. They perform both a cappella and accompanied works, drawing from a variety of genres, styles, languages, and centuries. Performances have included works by Thomas Tallis, Jean Sibelius, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Karl Jenkins, Morten Lauridsen, Roderick Williams, Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo, The Beatles, and Queen.
