About Us: The ESME e.V. Singers
Various singers were invited to sing at the Toytown Christmas party in December 2008. Their performance was so well-received that the singers decided to continue, and thus, the TT Singers were born.
Since then, the choir has performed two combined concerts each year with the ESME Orchestra and The Resident Alien Big Band. They also give smaller performances throughout the year, including a now regular Spring Concert. They perform both a cappella and accompanied works, drawing from a variety of genres, styles, languages, and centuries. Performances have included works by Thomas Tallis, Jean Sibelius, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Karl Jenkins, Morten Lauridsen, Roderick Williams, Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo, The Beatles, and Queen.
Resurrecting the sounds of former days, The Resident Alien Big Band is Munich’s most diverse musical ensemble. Over ten nationalities contribute their distinct backgrounds to reinterpret classics ranging from Count Basie to James Brown. The result is a unique blend of bossa nova inspired bass lines, funky horns, tight guitar riffs, and infectiously charismatic vocals.
Founded in 2010, the group regularly performs at venues large and small in and around Munich. Recent gigs include the Lions Club Summer Ball at the Künstlerhaus in Munich (http://www.lions-sommerball.de) as well as the summer festival of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. In the summer of 2016 the Big Band hosted ESME’s very own charity ball “The Munich Summer Ball – Summer Swing 2016”, follow this link for details. In addition to the full Big Band, members also perform in two smaller combo formats, one specializing in soul and R&B music from the 1960s and 70s, the other a 5-7 piece ensemble playing popular jazz standards.
The band is available for hire in any of the formats above, which makes them a fantastic entertainment option for your event, large or small. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
